Plugging Away.
I’ve been working on updating my website.
So far, I’ve added a store section where artwork can be purchased, as well as debuted the Dream Gleaners… but it’s the new, larger-scale work that I’m most looking forward to putting online. This stuff is a lot more positively inspired than my previous angst-ridden work. Don’t get me wrong, without my art to purge them, those demons would still be fucking me from inside, multiplying within, so I have no regrets… I’m just glad I’ve turned over a new leaf.
I have two completed, full-size illustrations beside me right now, both drawn and inked. So, the hard part is over! Only the coloring remains, but I’m stalling. I could go my usual, fairly monotone route and pick a hue, mix black or white into it to achieve shades and then dilute black ink in water to do the shadows afterward. That technique has worked fine for me, so long as the inspiration for the piece was just as dismal. But, the impetus of my new work demands that it be illuminated in bright, full-spectrum color… and I intend to comply! To do so, I need the dye-based inks that Angus Oblong introduced me to. I love those things… but, simply put, I don’t have all the ones I need right now.
That’s the hold up.
I feel good, though. I know it’s going to happen… and I’m not going to worry about when.
