Midnight White Rabbit

January 1st, 2009 (1:45 am)

I had the most amazing New Years Eve… by myself. Every-so-very-rarely I decide to go this route and it’s not the first time. The last time, in 2001, I came away from my evening with the painting, II, to show for it, but this year ended up more… I dunno… reflective, I guess.

I had a glass of red wine and listened to some music that reminded me of my niece and nephew who I’d just seen over the holidays and miss already, then I drew up a small picture that I should finish soon… and when my muse had passed, I meditated for a while. In fact, I did that right through to the midnight hour and when I stood up afterward and walked to the window for the first time in ’09, the timing was such that it almost seemed as if I was being told something. I looked down to the barren city street below and a white rabbit was hopping through the center of it, past my window. He stopped in the intersection just long enough for me to snap a quick picture…

Anyway… that was my oddly perfect night.

Make the best of this new year, my friends!
