		<description>Plants grow towards the light because of their auxin producing chemical.  The part of the plant that is facing the light produces more of it.  They also respond to injury - their respiration rate increases like our bodies do, but there is nothing inside a plant that likens them physiologically or emotionally to how we feel &quot;pain&quot;.   They do not produce chemicals that stimulate them like the chemicals in our brains do.   
But I do like to think they listen to me when I am whispering to them or telling them a funny story.
